AMPS:: Since the previous work i have done to construct a lightweight amp have been rebuffed by those that would use it (aka no longer commissioned to build combo for local artist). I’ve decided i need to work towards my own understanding of these “tube” amps people speak of. My friend TL said i cant expect people to purchase into something that they cannot play and experience. So with that in mind. I need to refine prototypes and sink approx $2k into testing construction and development.

Products:
-Lightweight Amp Head Approx 5 lbs. single channel full tube amp up to 50W. possible effects loop.
-Lightweight CAB Approx 14 lbs for 2×10, 18 lbs for a 2×12. Difficulty in attaching grill cloth.
-lightweight combo only available in 1×10 or 1×12. haven’t built before

So as i move forward i will be building a p1 extreme as a substitute for having to design a pcb and to understand the nuances in construction and wiring proximity.  I’ll post pictures and design critiques. I’ll start branching out into other music related projects later, such as a new tailpiece design and new guitar design. as well as pickups. so many pickups

My work in amps and cabs is finally gettting under way. A local artist in STL is going to be getting the first combo ive ever thought about putting together. It will use the same amp from my senior design project as well as the construction techniques for the cab, except for the Transmission line aspect. So basically lightweight 50W combo, still need to get some specifics as to speaker choices.

biggest concerns

– PCB manufacture and design
– transformer creation
– crosstalk among wires
– durability and toughness
– appearance
– cab construction techniques
I will also be making a 2×12 cab for a friend, same CF construction techniques. These do cost a fair amount. Approx 700 for materials alone. Hopefully i can make a solid finished product without any shortcomings from the materials.

Biggest concerns,

– Front v back mounted baffle
– Grill cloth attachment method
– compressive strength with the addition of rubber feet
–  buzzing/fully tensioned screws
– durability for extended times

I will be posting build pics once things get started

here’s to progress…….

Expect to start seeing all of my projects whether they be engineering or artistic.

-new guitars
– new pickups and pedals
– new paintings
– new speakers

Here’s to being productive!!!
